SUMMARY:This is us Exhibition - viewing days
DESCRIPTION:The Old School House Boscombe is hosting ‘This is us’\, an exhibition of work by artists from Make Art: Bournemouth\, a monthly art group run by national charity Outside In. The exhibition will run from 3rd August to 17th September 2026. \nWhat does it mean to make art in the world today? To closely observe the living world around us\, to reflect on a society that often feels bent on division\, where creativity frequently seems a ‘nice to have’ rather than a human right. ‘This is us’ presents work by eleven artists asserting their identities as creators and celebrating belonging and community\, whilst exploring what it means to be an artist in today’s world. \nWorks include a digital piece by Phoenix Rises Artwork celebrating trans joy and belonging. A watercolour by Marisa Mann expresses the resilience and courage of the Ukrainian people caught in the middle of a conflict between world leaders. Margaret Lewis\, an artist living with a visual impairment\, uses string to create shapes and then feels where to apply the paint. Her piece ‘Spring’ shows a garden coming to life. \nExhibiting artists\nAE Simcock\, Alfie White-Starke\, Berni Vincent\, Elisabetta Noto\, Heather Picken\, Helena Yasmin\, Margaret Lewis\, Marisa Mann\, PhilJ\, Phoenix Rises Artwork\, Roger Strong. \nThe exhibition will be audio described\, with a QR code next to each piece so visitors can listen to a description\, some by the artists themselves. \nExhibition dates: 3rd August – 17th September\nOpening dates: 3 August 10am – 2pm\n7\, 12\, 14\, 19\, 21 August\, 11am – 3pm\n22 August\, 1pm – 4pm\n26\, 28 August\, 11am – 3pm\n4\, 11 September\, 11am – 3pm \nFurther information:\nBeth Hopkins / beth.hopkins@outsidein.org.uk / 07931 516 038\nOutside In: outsidein.org.uk | Instagram | Facebook \nAbout Make Art: Bournemouth\nMake Art: Bournemouth is a monthly art group at the Old School House Boscombe for artists who face barriers to the art world due to health\, disability\, social circumstance or isolation. Visit outsidein.org.uk/event-listings to find out more and book your place to come along. \nBerni Vincent\, an exhibiting artist\, says: ‘Make Art Bournemouth has been my creative home and true community for 3 years. This has changed everything. I have learned much from the creative input of other artists. This has helped motivate me to make art every day. Before finding this creative space\, I had d a strong desire to learn art but had difficulty in finding an accessible environment that worked with the barriers I face as a disabled person… ‘This is us’- a celebration of community and belonging. True belonging cannot exist without true inclusion. \n‍\nAbout Outside In:\nOutside In provides a platform for artists who encounter significant barriers to the art world due to health\, disability\, social circumstance\, or isolation. It provides three programmes of activity: artist development\, exhibitions\, and training. Founded in 2006\, Outside In is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.\nWebsite: outsidein.org.uk\nInstagram: @outsidein_uk \n

SUMMARY:Community Qigong with Rakhee - Monday's
DESCRIPTION:oin me for Monday evening qigong in Boscombe – gentle movement\, deep breathing\, and stillness. A chance to arrive fully in your body\, release what the weekend left behind\, and meet the week from a place of calm rather than rush. \nEach month follows a different theme\, moving with the seasons and the elements. We explore traditional forms with curiosity and playfulness\, learning ancient practices that help us meet modern life with more ease. \nNo experience needed. Come as you are. \nWhat is qigong? \nQigong (pronounced “chee-gong”) is an ancient Chinese practice of gentle movement\, breath\, and meditation. \nImagine tai chi’s flowing grace\, yoga’s mindful awareness\, and meditation’s stillness – all woven together. You move slowly\, breathe deeply\, and allow your attention to settle. \nIt’s less about doing it “right” and more about feeling your way into each movement. Playful. Meditative. Restorative. \nYou don’t need to be flexible\, fit\, or coordinated. You just need to be willing to slow down and pay attention. \nMoving with the Seasons \nMarch: Wood Element \nAs the earth wakes and green shoots push through soil\, we work with Wood energy – the element of spring\, growth\, and new beginnings. Wood forms stretch and open\, helping us release what’s stuck and make space for what wants to emerge. Perfect timing as we move toward the spring equinox. \nApril: The Five Elements \nIn April\, we journey through all Five Elements – Wood\, Fire\, Earth\, Metal\, Water. Each element has its own quality and wisdom\, connecting to different organs\, emotions\, and seasons. You’ll learn sequences that work with each element\, discovering how qigong maps the body as energy and flow. \nWhat people say“I’ve never done anything like this before – it was extraordinary\, moving\, enlivening. I feel like I’ve found my thing.” – Sara \nDetailsDates: This is an ongoing class – each month explores a different focus\, following the seasons and the elements.Time: 5.45–6.45 pmVenue: TOSH\, Gladstone Mews\, Boscombe\, Bournemouth \nCost:• £10 per session (early bird until 2 February) You need to book a minimum of two classes for this price• £12 drop in if space allows or per session after 2 February \nBookingPlease book via Rakhee’s website: Monday Night Qigong Booking.

SUMMARY:Immersive Sound Journey & Gong Bath with Robin
DESCRIPTION:Immersive Sound Journey & Gong Bath\, with Robin Freeman \nDate: Every Friday evening\, 7.30pm-9pm \nPrice: £20 per session \nCome and join us for a deeply meditative immersive sound journey and gong bath experience with Robin Freeman.\nThese sessions provide a warm welcome and a safe space where you can come to relax\, unwind\, and just let go… \nAn opportunity for self-healing\, and for restoration of mind\, body\, and soul. \nEvery session is a unique experience\, and each week we work with different themes\, directions\, and intentions.‍ \nAbout me and my sound journey sessions \nI am a sound healing practitioner\, a gong master and a meditation guide. During my session’s i like to combine all of these to create a very unique and immersive sound journey and gong bath experience. \nI work with a wide variety of healing instruments and tools that have been very carefully selected from many different countries around the world. When combined\, these can directly and positively affect mood\, brain waves\, the nervous system\, and body chemistry\, with fantastic and profound results.\nThe sounds and vibrations that are created in these sessions stimulate the body to recreate its own harmonic frequency and help produce the alpha waves that are present within our brains whilst in a state of deep relaxation. All you need to do is come along\, lay down\, and relax\, as I guide you along a deeply meditative journey. \nDuring these sessions\, along with a large selection of healing instruments and tools\, I also use several very special gongs. These have been carefully chosen and induce a holistic resonance in the body and a spontaneous meditative state in the mind\, resulting in a sense of expanded awareness and wholeness. This is both restorative and healing. It is just what our body\, mind and soul needs to restore\, refresh and revitalise. \nWho are these sessions suitable for? \nEveryone is welcome! \nThese sessions can help with issues such as stress\, anxiety\, sleep disorders\, depression\, digestion\, chakra realignment and energy flow. They also create a perfect opportunity to set new intentions or release any burdens that you no longer wish to carry. \nMy sound journeys are also a great way to cleanse from any negative energy and emotional blockages. \nThe healing sounds and vibrations circulate around and through-out the entire body to calm\, relax and soothe. As a result of this it is common for the heart rate to slow down\, the blood pressure to drop\, and the breath to become calm\, peaceful\, and return to its natural rhythm. Once the session ends\, it is common for attendees to feel very relaxed and then enjoy a lovely deep sleep that night\, followed by a feeling of refreshment once you awaken the next day. \nSession times & when to arrive \nEvery Friday evening\, 7.30pm-9pm \nPlease arrive by 7.25pm (just 5 minutes before we are due to begin). This is when we open our doors to welcome everyone in. \nPlease try to avoid arriving excessively early as you will have to wait outside until the doors open. This is because we will be busy preparing the venue for the session and are unable to let anyone inside until we are ready. \nOnce we start our session at 7.30pm the door must be closed and locked to prevent any disturbances. We are unable to let people enter after the session has begun. This is only fair to everyone already inside. Thank you for understanding. \nWhere can I park? \nWe have a dedicated free carpark right opposite our entrance doorway! \nIf the spaces are full\, please do feel free to double park as everyone using this carpark will be leaving at the same time\, once our session has ended. \nAlternatively\, free parking is available in the surrounding residential roads. \nThe large Sovereign Shopping Centre carpark is also just a 3 minute walk away. \nWhat should I bring?‍ \nComfy clothing\, a pillow and some water to drink. You are also welcome to bring anything else with you so that you are as comfortable as possible during our session. \nWe provide yoga mats\, blankets\, and weighted eye masks for everyone attending. \nPlease feel free to bring anything you need to enhance your comfort. Extra yoga mats\, memory foam\, pillows\, camping mattresses\, thick blankets\, fluffy socks and cuddly toys all welcome! Whatever you need to be as comfortable as possible! Folding / reclining camp chairs are a great option for anyone with back issues\, or if you are unable to lie down at ground level. \nAdvisory information and disclaimer‍ \n– Gong baths are not advised for pregnant women during the first trimester. \n– It is not advised to attend if you have ever had a stroke. \n– It is not advised to attend if you have any psychological or psychiatric conditions. \n– It is not advised to attend if you have ever had brain injuries or brain surgery. \n– It is not advised to attend if you suffer from severe osteoporosis. \n– Please do not attend if you are under the influence of any recreational or psychoactive drugs or alcohol. \n– If in any doubt about attending these sessions\, please consult your doctor or health care professional in advance.. \n– We do not accept any legal responsibility for any personal injury or other loss arising from the attendance of this session and the use of sound healing\, Gongs\, vocal or any other form of instrument being used by ourselves.

SUMMARY:Bike Tool Library with New Forest Off Road Club
DESCRIPTION:How does it work? \nOur bi-weekly workshop sessions invite people to come together to learn skills\, share skills\, and spend time in the company of others at no cost\, contributing to the development of a vibrant community where people are able to access the benefits of cycling and the reward of caring for and maintaining a bike. \nWe have an inventory of bike stands and tools to use on your own bike. We’ll have some volunteers on hand to welcome you and share their knowledge of fixing bikes. \nFind us the second and fourth Thursday of each month at The Old School House in Boscombe. \nDrop-in from 7-9pm. Bring your bike and any spare parts you might need. \nUp to date information about session dates can be found on our Calendar.‍ \nCan I borrow tools to use at home?\nWe plan to  operate a tool loan system so people can also borrow tools to use and home in their own time. There will be an online system that allows people to log their items and for us to keep track of inventory. We’ll update our website once it is up and running! \nWe’re thrilled to have received funding from BCP Council to set up and run a Bike Tool Library\, along with our ‘open’ workshop sessions where members of the community can come to do maintenance and fix their bikes.\nWe want to continue building and empowering the cycling community we’ve built through fixing bikes. This funding enables us to purchase tools that can be loaned to members of the community to maintain and repair bikes at home\, as well as in the regular open workshop sessions. \nWe are building a space in which people can share their knowledge about bicycle maintenance\, repair\, and building whilst connecting with others with similar interests across a range of age groups\, genders\, and backgrounds. We want this project to break down stereotypes about who can repair and maintain bikes and encourage more women to feel confident fixing and riding bikes. \nIf you’d like more information about our aspirations\, read our full application to BCP Council here. \nI love this idea\, how can I support?\nThanks\, we’re excited too. If you have tools\, time or expertise to contribute\, reach out to us at Newforestoffroadclub@gmail.com. We’re building a team who can run the Tool Library together.

SUMMARY:Family Constellations workshop with Victoria Smisek
DESCRIPTION:Family Constellations is a way of revealing hidden dynamics within our family systems – both in our present family and in our family of origin. \nIt can uncover unresolved entanglements\, patterns in our family lines and ancestral or generational trauma. The whole intention of family constellations work is to restore harmony and balance in the family system\, which therefore can relieve us of our individual issues and unhelpful repetitive patterns (which will likely be a result of us unknowingly carrying burdens passed down unconsciously from previous generations.) \nFamily Constellations is a therapeutic approach which accesses things at the root level\, bringing resolution not only for us\, but for our children and for the generations to come. \nConstellations can also be made to explore internal parts of ourselves\, this can be particularly helpful when working with trauma. In a workshop\, I use different methods depending on what feels most appropriate for each case. \n* In this particular workshop you are invited along as a representative – knowing that you will get exactly what you need from the process in being part of other’s constellations. This is a profound way to be of service to others and to yourself. In being a representative\, the field can still reveal to us the hidden dynamics in our own family and internal systems.‍ \nFor more information: https://www.victoriasmisek.com/family-constellations
