Weds 18 November, 6pm-8pm at TOSH
A supportive, informal space to share work and gain insightful feedback, hosted by ceramicist Imogen Charleston.

November host, Imogen, is a ceramic artist and educator based in Christchurch, Dorset.

Her wheel-thrown wood-fired ceramic pieces are imbued with the story of the land, incorporating foraged materials and wild clay.

“Now more than ever we need to reconnect with the earth, honor what it provides for us as humans. I have always spent time gazing at my surroundings on walks, observing and collecting everything from shells to wild foods and far too many plastic bottles. These objects are a source of inspiration and imbued conceptually and physically into my ceramics. It’s natural evolution that I’d eventually incorporate clay from my local landscape into the pots I make.”

Imogen also runs Moon Studio Ceramics, providing the opportunity to learn traditional craft skills to the local community, and to the wider UK area. Imogen’s pottery experiences are open to both absolute beginners and intermediate potters, with weekly classes, one off experiences, and mobile pop-up workshops.

Sustainability is very important at Moon Studio, using a renewable green electricity supplier. To minimise waste, all clay scraps are reclaimed and reused, even the slip water from throwing. Glaze waste is also recycled. The studio has been awarded plastic free status by Surfers Against Sewage.

Join Imogen for this small group session, sharing your own work, or simply discovering the work of others. Feel empowered with supportive and constructive feedback. Artists of all ages and stages welcome.

Crit Nights with BEAF

Are you keen to share your artwork – finished pieces or works-in-progress – with other creatives for useful, constructive feedback?

Join us at TOSH for our bi-monthly informal Crit Nights, formed as part of our year-round artist development support.

Share your creative work, ideas, or concepts in one of our four informal sharing slots (5 mins sharing in whatever form suits you), or simply come along to discover new work and offer your thoughts in a safe, supportive space alongside those from our rotating artist specialists.

What to share?

You might share a current project, or a past one that you’d like to learn from. You might tell us about your creative journey so far, looking for advice on what to do next. You could show your artwork, songs, songwriting, creative writing, project ideas, artist bios / statements, graphic design, interior design, illustration, storyboards, film, photography, fine art, portfolios, website design, event / workshop ideas, ceramics, choreography, performance, craft, millinery, jewellery, costume, product design, animation, a commission in progress, creative research work… and more!

What ticket type do I need?

Choose a ‘Share Work’ ticket if you’d like to have some space to share with us, or an ‘Audience’ ticket if you’d rather just see what it’s all about and offer some thoughts if you’d like to. Our Donation tickets support us to keep providing creative opportunities to the community, and our Community tickets support you when you need it most. We want our sessions to be accessible for all. If you would like a free Community ticket for this event, please drop us an email to hello@beaf.org.uk for the ticket code.

About BEAF artist support

Our sessions aim to support our community of artists and their artistic development at all stages of their career. Our events and workshops are for artists interested in collaboration, skills development, community and networking.
